The rain got even heavier as we arrived at Peles Castle. We waited for a bit but it was never going to ease up, and the longer we waited the less time we would have at the castle. In the end we threw caution to the wind and ran for it. From the car park the castle entrance is a good 600-meters walk, all uphill. By the time we reached the castle we were drenched to the bone.
Peles Castle is completely different from the one we visited earlier. While Bran Castle is more of a fortress, Peles Castle is similar to a stately home.
King Carol 1 of Romania chose the site for the castle because he fell in love with the surrounding mountains. The foundation was laid for PeleČ™ Castle on 22 August 1873.

Peles Castle.
It was raining buckets.
Once inside, we were taken aback by the beauty of the place.
Back outside, magically, the rain had disappeared. The weather was now bright.
The gardens and the stunning scenery around it.
Group photo outside the castle.
